Handedness

[edit]

I found several citations showing a cane is to be used opposite the injury or weakness. I could only find mention of personal preference, or specific balance issues suggesting holding the cane on the injured side.

The original article was written in a way to suggest the hand was dependent on the type of injury.

Can we find citable facts that would improve the article by showing specifically that the hand you use changes based on specific things? FractureTalk   05:59, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I added a note to better explain handedness. --Mb327 (talk) 01:03, 18 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Trekking pole (hiking pole, hiking stick)

[edit]

I added trekking pole to the article and see also section. I think that it might be better to merge the article with this one. Hiking pole, hiking stick and walking pole redirect to trekking pole at the moment. I think that the first two are better redirected to trekking pole for now. I do not know about walking pole because I have not heard it used, and it is possible that it is used to refer to a sport type stick/pole. -- Kjkolb 23:33, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

clarity

[edit]

I tried to make this article more clear. I rearranged the order for flow, and added a note on handedness. I also made handedness its own section so as not to be confused with the introduction. Please share your thoughts, I am new to wikipedia and this is a field in which i am at least semi-educated. —Preceding --Mb327 (talk) 02:15, 19 July 2009 (UTC)unsigned [reply]

added and amended several links to this page. Walking canes for medical purposes are an extremely important choice in a person's lifestyle, so i tried to use less marketing messages and more informational articles.
